Background

After growing from just four people to more than six hundred in just four years, it’s safe to say TripActions was successful in their mission to disrupt business travel management. When they were ready to expand into managing travel spend, we were there to help. With headquarters in Silicon Valley, TripActions is in the heart of the technology capital of the world. And to play successfully in that space your tech and reputation has to be of the highest caliber. Serving over 5,000 clients like, Zoom, Lyft, Canva, Game Stop, Survey Monkey and SendBird, the organization has set the highest standards for product quality and customer support.

The challenge

Travel and expenses has long been the last chore of the traveling business person. the headaches begin with receipt management, and continue to pile up through rewards and rules of compensation. TripActions Liquid was set to wash the slate clean with a backend interface that was as easy to use as your email browser and a card that you can turn off an on controlling what and how employees expenses are made. The challenge was cutting through the clutter and bad reputations the industry as a whole had established over the past two decades.

The approach

Beginning with a simple notion that payments and expenses should flow smoothly, we partnered with their product team to launch TripActions Liquid with an app and credit card. We went digital to create an online home that would announce and educate prospective clients on all the benefits available with TripActions Liquid. As the brand evolved so did the need for the sophistication of the Liquid credit card as we helped the team develop tiered levels of customer benefits and the cards the accompanied each tier amplifying the presence amongst silicon valley's elite tech culture.

The takeaway

Since launching in February 2020 the Platform has received a #1 in Travel & Expense, as well as a 97% Satisfaction Rating amongst its users. And as of March 2021, TripActions received a new $155 million investment for their Series E round, valuing TripActions at $5 billion on a post-money basis—not too shabby for a 5 year old.
