Background

Peaceful Living is a nonprofit that serves young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Philadelphia area. Needing to bolster financial support to continue this mission, the organization introduced a new executive team that determined it was time for a new brand content strategy.

The challenge

With several years of challenges Peaceful Living was ready to embrace new changes. After bringing in new leadership and marketing personnel the goals were lofty but they had the right team in place to solve them. Pennsylvania is a difficult state to impact legislation for this population, but that wasn't going to stop the Peaceful Living team from giving it everything they had.

The approach

We gladly accepted the opportunity to be involved, tapping into the community of belonging that separates Peaceful Living from others in this space. After spending time with their team and the families they serve, we crafted a new campaign focused on their personalized approach to care through a strategy of “Belonging Built For You.” This approach allowed them the freedom to focus on the invaluable smiles and purpose they provide every day. A native content strategy carries this message to community members and city and state legislatures to emphasize the inherent value of serving developmentally disabled individuals.

The rationale

At Peaceful Living, the people we serve are more than patients or subjects. They are unique, valuable individuals with special gifts to offer to the world. It’s our calling to help make that happen. From our headquarters in Harleysville to the services, activities, and adventures we have together nearby, to our residence quarters, the local community, and beyond—we help everyone discover and realize their unique potential. We are here to empower the best version of themselves and ourselves that we can be, together. Here, you are welcomed. Here, you matter.

Advertising campaign

A strategic awareness campaign targeted community members to find purpose through Peaceful Living while illustrating a simple but profound way of valuing what everyone can bring.

The takeaway

Enduring years of fiscal difficulties, Peaceful Living was in need of a change. Since overhauling their executive team and board, and injecting new meaning into their name and brand, they have found a new level of interest amongst families and donors. Although raising philanthropy and positively effecting legislation for this population will always be a struggle we remain hopeful partners that the mission of belonging will continue to thrive.
